ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Part of an Albemarle County road will be closed for the next two months due to a bridge project.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says part of Browns Gap Turnpike/Blackwells Hollow Road near Crozet will be closed from May 23 to July 29.

The closure will be between Shiffletts Mill Road and Garth Road, with the bridgework being focused on the structure over the Rock Bar Branch.

VDOT says there will be a temporary pedestrian bridge put in place for use by walkers, runners and bicyclists.

Drivers will see message boards to direct them around the project, which will be replacing the superstructure and making repairs to parts of the substructure.
