CFD announces new Deputy Chief of Community Risk Reduction
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- There will be a new Deputy Chief of Community Risk Reduction at the Charlottesville Fire Department.
Michael L. Thomas will be appointed to the post beginning in June.
According to a release, he has more than 30 years of related service.
Thomas has a bachelor of science in business administration as well as an associate degree in fire science.
Additionally, Thomas has multiple credentials, such as being a certified fire/arson investigator, an emergency medical technician, and an incident safety officer.
He most recently served as a Fire Inspector/Public Educator with the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue's Community Risk and Resilience Section.
Thomas also served as an Operations Battalion Chief at the Lynchburg Fire Department where he worked for 31 years, including two as the Acting Fire Marshal.
