U.S. Navy officer surprises kids at graduation
LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Two Louisa County students get a sweet surprise during graduation Wednesday.
First-grader London Wynn and her little brother Avery were surprised by their mom, whom they haven't seen in nearly a year.
U.S. Navy Captain Dawn Wynn just returned from Kuwait after being deployed for nine months.
Wynn has been serving in the Navy for almost 24 years.
The family was reunited during Moss-Nuckels Elementary School's graduation.
"I missed a lot of special moments. They're still growing. They're only seven and four," said Wynn. "As a parent, you don't want to miss any moment in your kids' lives. It's a difficult challenge for any service member that has to be separated from their family. I'm just thankful to be back home in one piece."
She says her family plans to take a trip to Williamsburg, which is a mini-vacation her family enjoys every year.
