Sheriff's office: False reports of shooting situation in Troy area
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is responding to rumors and social media posts concerning a shooting situation on James Madison Highway.
According to the sheriff’s office, these reports are false and there is no active shooter in the Troy area.
There was a call earlier on Tuesday regarding a driver’s side window shattering while the person was driving and the driver thought it had been shot out.
However, deputies investigated the incident and found no evidence of a shooting.
Deputies are patrolling the area, but the sheriff’s office emphasizes there is no active threat at this time.
The sheriff’s office also urges people to use caution with sharing information on social media as spreading misinformation can cause panic.
