CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- An up and down five year journey for Virginia's Devin Ortiz will end with national honors as the two-way threat was named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Ortiz was selected to the second team as a utility player, while UVA third baseman Jake Gelof was named to the third team.

As a fifth-year senior, Ortiz hit .298 with seven home runs and setting career-highs with 47 RBI and 61 hits at the plate this season. Ortiz also returned to the mound this year as a regular midweek starter after two seasons battling a shoulder injury. The graduate student started five games and went 5-1 with a 2.02 ERA along with 37 strikeouts.

Gelof also earned his first career All-American honors after hitting .373 with 19 homers and 74 RBI, both rank second in a single season in program history.
