RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- This weekend, people can try fishing without spending money on a license.

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources says June 3 through 5 are Free Fishing Days.

According to a release, the agency will also be hosting events for the weekend, with staff and volunteers offering rods and reels to try, terminal tackle and bait, as well as instructions on how to fish.

These events will take place between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Burke Lake in Fairfax County, Dorey Park in Henrico County, and Mt. Trashmore in Virginia Beach.

Then on Sunday, there will be the Festival del Rio Rappahannock at Old Mill Park in Fredericksburg between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The release says no fishing license of any kind will be needed for recreational rod and reel fishing during this weekend.

Additionally, the DWR had removed restrictions to fishing designated stocked trout waters for the weekend, which opens more than 2,900 miles of streams on top of the various ponds, lakes and reservoirs.

However, all regulations on size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions will still be in effect and fee fishing areas will still require payment.
