ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Meriwether Lewis Elementary School hosted a concert for first responders Friday morning.

Fourth and fifth graders sang patriotic songs in front of friends, families, and first responders who attended.

The goal of the concert was for students to show appreciation for all of the first responders' hard work.

Fifth-grader Treanor Moran, who performed at Friday’s concert, says he hopes to be a paramedic when he grows up.

"Paramedics never get a break, and EMTs and firefighters, so they should be loved more and paid attention to more," he said. "They should get more breaks."

The concert was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend but was postponed due to rain.

It is an annual tradition but was put on hold the last few years because of the pandemic.
