Local teen supporting local charity through music
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A local teen is promoting a summer charity and doing it through her love of music.
According to a release, 17-year-old Eloise Granville has been busy promoting the charity concert she is organizing for The Yellow Door Foundation.
She wants to study the music industry and popular music in college.
"I’ve known several childhood friends who have been forced to battle significant long-term illnesses,” said Granville when asked why she wants to support the Yellow Door Foundation.
“Many children are not fortunate enough to live as close to a world-renowned hospital-like UVA. They are limited to staying in hotel rooms for extended periods without their entire family at great expense. I wanted to use my love of music to help YDF continue to allow families to stay together and children to receive excellent care while they have a constant in their lives and can experience a sense of normalcy.”
She managed to get the performers to donate their talents and Pro Re Nata to donate the venue so that 100 percent of the ticket sales will go toward the Yellow Door Foundation.
The charity concert will take place on June 30 beginning at 7 p.m. at Pro Re Nata in Crozet.
Featured performers will include Orion Faruque of Orion and the Melted Crayons, the Live Show, and Skyline Drive.
Tickets are $15 in advance, available online here, or $20 cash at the door.
