Events coming up for Independence Day weekend
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Independence Day is just around the corner and people may be looking for events to go to.
Several area organizations will be holding events around the holiday, starting on July 1.
Orange County will kick everything off on July 1 with its Playin’ in the Park celebration at Booster Park.
In Rapidan, the Independence Day Weekend Wrangler Campout will be held at WAR Craft Brewery will begin on July 2.
Also on that day, the Kiwanis Club in Charlottesville will be holding its 39th annual Independence Day 5K Run/Walk, raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Blue Ridge.
And the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its July Fourth Parade at Claudius Crozet Park, though there will be no fireworks this year.
The Boar’s Head Resort will be holding events throughout the weekend, including a fireworks display on the Green on July 3.
Most events will be held on Independence Day itself, which falls on a Monday this year.
One of the largest is the Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.
There will also be Independence Day Concert and Celebration at James Monroe’s Highland.
The Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department is holding a Fourth of July Parade.
And Red, White, Blue ‘n Greene is holding its parade too, with Jean Byerly as the Grand Marshal. Later in the day, the festival will include live music and fireworks.
The Culpeper Baptist Church is holding its Freedom 5K Run/Walk.
Another event in the Culpeper area is the Freedom Car and Bike Show supporting Christ-Centered Addiction Restoration Services.
At Keswick Vineyards, Reds, Whites and Bluegrass invites people to enjoy local craft beverages, food and music
Graves Mountain Farm Lodges is holding a picnic, fireworks and more while fundraising to support fire and rescue departments in Madison County.
And DuCard Vineyards is holding a special version of its Music on the Patio with the Ronnie Johnson Band.
In Albemarle County, Celebrate US! Charlottesville is once again planning a fireworks show to be launched from the Carter Mountain area. This year’s event will support the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad.
