CHARLOTTESVILLE Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Blue Ridge Abortion Fund and the Charlottesville Democratic Committee are holding a virtual event to discuss the expected impact of the Roe v. Wade ruling in the Charlottesville community.
The May leak of a Supreme Court draft ruling suggests the 1973 precedent will be overturned.
This could result in people having to travel long distances to get abortion care.
For now, Virginia is one of the only states that will continue to allow abortion, as long as Governor Glenn Youngkin doesn't change a current state law that allows a woman to obtain an abortion until the 25th week of pregnancy.
