CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia Police Department is collecting school supplies to help children in Charlottesville’s schools.

According to a release, UPD is continuing a partnership with Reverend Lehman Bates II of Ebenezer Baptist Church and Kevin Turpin of the Life Enrichment Center.

This is also being done in partnership with the African American Pastors Council and the City of Promise.

They are working together for the Back to School Bash.

UPD is collecting new bookbags.

All donations can be dropped off at UPD’s headquarters at 2304 Ivy Road. Items must be brought in by Aug. 12. 

There are other ways to assist, such as sending monetary donations to help purchase supplies.
