LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Four years ago, the Grime family found the perfect place to make their dream come true.

“We decided that would be a fun and exciting family adventure to start up a business,” said Southern Revere Cellars co-owner Paula Spencer.

Opening their doors at the end of 2021, Southern Revere is a family-owned winery and brewery serving craft beers and blended wines in Louisa County.

“One of the best things that Southern Revere brings that area is that variety and the ability to appeal to many different palates. Also having both beer and wine, we are able to cater to even more folks,” continued Spencer.

But opening while the community is coming out of a pandemic resulted in setbacks from the start.

“We had these big plans with this huge building right from the start and we said 'Wait a minute, maybe, let’s scale this back, not overreach ourselves,' and luckily we were able to kind of pivot and turn this really neat building into our initial tasting room and production facility,” said co-owner Sheridan Grime.

The Grime family says they couldn’t have made their Central Virginia dreams come true without Virginia National Bank.

“Virginia National Bank was huge in helping us do that," said Grime. "We were able to work with them. They have a Small Business Association Specialist there that was really able to get us our loan so we could even start this enterprise."
