WOODSTOCK, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Charlottesville scored six unanswered runs on the road to take down Woodstock in game one of the Valley League Championship series.

The Tom Sox jumped out to a 1-0 lead with one swing of the bat from Carter Cunningham on a first inning solo home run. The River Bandits quickly answered back with to tie the game at 1-1 on a passed ball in the bottom of the first.

The score remained tied until the fifth inning, when Cunningham drew a bases loaded walk and Trey Yunger followed up with a 2-RBI single to push the lead to 4-1. The Tom Sox added the insurance runs in the ninth inning with a 2-RBI single from Kalvin Alexander, who later scored on a passed ball for a 7-1 lead.

While the Tom Sox bats came alive in the fifth and ninth, the trio of pitchers Drew Bryan, Jackson Nove and Trey Yesavage combined to only allow one earned run on two hits with ten strikeouts.

The Tom Sox return to Charlottesville High School for the first time during their playoff run with a chance to clinch the team's third VBL title with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
