CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The Charlottesville Tom Sox claim their 3rd Valley Baseball League title in team history in a 6 to 2 win over the Woodstock River Bandits.

In their first at home appearance in the playoffs the Sox saw a scoreless first inning, but soon got on the board as Christian Martin walked with bases loaded. The momentum only increased for the Sox as Garrett Spike hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 3rd.

The top of the 4th saw no runs from the River Bandits and the Tom Sox took advantage as they put 3 more on the board during the next two innings. The River Bandits finally answered with two runs from Jack Spike and Max Galvin but Charlottesville responded with one more score from Carter Cunningham in the 8th.

Not to be overshadowed was the work on the mound. From Christian Howe, Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman and finally Tyler McLoughlin, the pitching staff had a dominant evening.
