Chances to learn about child care and public safety careers
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A pair of events are coming up in Albemarle County where people can learn about careers in child care and public safety.
The county will be holding two events during which attendees will get to talk to people currently working in those fields and more.
On Aug. 13, the Early Childhood Care and Education Career Fair will be held at the County Office Building on Fifth Street.
This event will provide information on starting a business in early childhood education and the child care industry.
For those interested in starting a business, they will have a chance to talk to the Albemarle County Department of Social Services, the Community Investment Collaborative, Go2Grow, ReadyKids, the United Way of Greater Charlottesville and other organizations.
People looking to get a job in the child care industry will be able to talk to people from the Barrett Early Learning Center, the Jefferson Area Board of Aging’s Shining Star Preschool, KinderCare, the YMCA and others.
This fair will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 12 p.m.
Then on Aug. 15, local public safety agencies will be participating in a meet and greet.
During it, attendees will be able to talk about career options in law enforcement, fire rescue and emergency communications.
There will be booths with representatives from the Albemarle County Police Department, the Department of Fire Rescue, and the Sheriff’s Office as well as the Albemarle-Charlottesville-University of Virginia Emergency Communications Center.
This event will be held at 5 p.m. at the Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center.
There will be a virtual version of this event on Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.
