Blue Ridge PRISM hosting webinar on spotted lanternfly

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- People who are interested in learning more about the spotted lanternfly may be interested in an upcoming webinar.
The Blue Ridge Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management, or PRISM, will be hosting the event on Aug. 17.
The volunteer-driven group aims to reduce the negative impact of invasive species, plant, insect and animal, on the local environment.
The brown bag webinar will focus on the relationship between the spotted lanternfly and its preferred food source, the tree-of-heaven (Ailanthus altissima).
There will also be discussions on how best to control these invasive species.
While this event is free to attend, a suggested donation of $5 would help the organization cover the cost of it as well as allow it to provide similar programs.
The webinar will begin at 12 p.m. Aug. 17.
