GREENE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says two people have been charged with murder for a shooting that occurred Wednesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, officials received a 911 call Wednesday regarding a shooting in the Ruckersville area.

When deputies arrived, they found 54-year-old Dwight W. Roach of Ruckersville dead from a single gunshot wound.

Investigators determined the case was a homicide and were able to identify two people as suspects in it.

The sheriff’s office arrested 32-year-old Daniel Emmett Roberts of Orange County and 28-year-old Allen Michael Shifflett of Charlottesville.

They are both facing charges of murder in the second degree, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felony.

When Roberts was arrested, officials say he had 102 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of crack cocaine, 29 grams of fentanyl and two firearms with him.

Both men are currently being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
