RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from Highland Springs has pleaded guilty to child pornography distribution charges.

According to a release, 39-year-old Deric Wallace Peacock was already serving probation for prior sex offense convictions, for procuring sexual content of a person believed to be under the age of 15 via a computer, when he committed this new crime.

Court documents show he used an encrypted messaging service called Wickr to distribute pornography.

Peacock will be sentenced in January.

The release says he faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years, and a maximum of 40 years, in prison due to his prior enticement conviction.

The case came out of Project Safe Childhood, which is a national initiative that aims to fight child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The initiative allows federal, state and local law enforcement resources ways to better locate, arrest and prosecute people who exploit children over the Internet as well as identify and rescue victims.
