Collecting backpacks to help foster kids in need
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An organization that offers support for children in need of safer and more positive living environments wants to help out area students.
Braley and Thomspon, which has two locations in the Charlottesville area, is holding its first-ever “Back-to-School” backpack drive.
According to a release, this will benefit foster youth in need.
The organization is accepting new and gently used backpacks through Sept. 30 at locations in Virginia and West Virginia.
“We’re proud to serve the needs of children and families throughout Virginia through community-wide initiatives that benefit our most vulnerable youth,” said Sherry Rakes, Executive Director, with Braley & Thompson. “We hope everyone will join us in donating a backpack and helping every child feel the back-to-school excitement.”
Braley and Thompson aims to connect children in need with foster families that can provide comforting and nurturing homes.
It has offered foster care services, counseling, respite care, foster parent training, and youth residential services for more than 40 years.
