CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Two Charlottesville-area residents are in the running for national recognition.

EBONY has released its list of finalists for its 2022 EBONY Power 100 awards.

For more than 75 years, EBONY has been highlighting Black excellence across the country, including a list of the most influential Black Americans.

There are 10 categories in which people can be recognized, ranging from STEM to music to activism.

This year, Dr. Cameron Webb is a finalist in the STEM Trailblazers category.

He works at the University of Virginia Health System and served as a senior adviser for the White House COVID-19 Response.

Under the Generation Next category, Zyahna Bryant’s name appears.

She is a student at UVA and graduated from Charlottesville High School, where she founded the Black Student Union.

Award recipients will be announced on Oct. 29.
