CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Officials have increased the reward being offered in connection with a reported hate crime that occurred at the University of Virginia.

The UVA Police Department continues to investigate a noose placed on the statue of Homer on Sept. 7 at around 11:15 p.m.
 
There is now a $10,000 reward being offered for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
 

A person of interest was seen on surveillance cameras around the time the noose was placed.

The person of interest appears to be a white man who was wearing a black coat, light blue jeans, and black shoes at the time of the crime.
 

He was also carrying a bag of some kind.

A dark-colored sedan that may also be associated with this investigation has now been included on a flyer.
