CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- After a 3 game win streak UVA men's soccer's run came to a close at the hands of number 10 Denver 1-0.

The first half featured back and forth play that allowed both Denver and Virginia long stretches of possession. Virginia saw their best chance at scoring when Triton Beauvois took the ball down the sideline  before sending it down to Leo Afonso. Afonso kept the ball inbound and sent it to Daniel Mangarov in the box, but his finish sailed just high of the crossbar.

Denver would produce the first and last goal of the game early in the second half. Just 5 minutes in the pioneers were awarded a penalty kick after forward Ian Smith was brought down in the box. Lukas Fischer shot the ball into the left corner and although Holden Brown guessed correctly he couldn't quite reach far enough to make the save.

The remainder of the game belonged to the Cavaliers as Virginia dominated the ball and pinned the Pioneers back in their own end of the field. Despite many shots inside the box the cavaliers came up empty.

Virginia will be back at Klockner Friday October 7th to take on Duke, who they trail by just one point in the ACC Coastal standings.
