Hollywood stars coming to Virginia Film Festival
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Some Hollywood stars are coming to town for the 35th anniversary of the Virginia Film Festival.
The festival's committee announced the program Tuesday.
One of those stars will be Jonathan Majors of the Marvel Cinematic University. He showed up in the Loki series as Kang the Conqueror and will be taking the big screen as the same character in the third installment in the Ant-Man and the Wasp films.
At the festival, he will be receiving the Breakthrough Star Award.
Other stars, like Chrissy Metz from “This Is Us,” directors, and screenwriters will be making appearances as well.
The festival will feature more than 100 films and events.
"It’s an opportunity to sit back and enjoy yourself in a movie theater and participate in some incredible discussions as well," said Jody Kielbasa, the director of the Virginia Film Festival.
Kielbasa says the festival has really grown and become a premiere cultural event in Virginia over the last 35 years.
Some top films being considered for the Academy Awards will be shown at the event.
The festival will take place Nov. 2 through Nov. 6. The full program will be posted online Thursday morning.
Tickets go on sale at noon the following Tuesday on the festival's website.
