UVA Law says faculty members elected to ALI
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Two professors at the University of Virginia School of Law have been elected to the American Law Institute.
According to a release, the elections of Bertrall Ross and Micah Schwartzman were announced on Friday, bringing the total number of UVA Law faculty affiliated with the organization to 34.
The ALI puts out scholarly work that aims to update or make other improvements to law.
It includes judges, lawyers, and law professors from around the world that are elected based on their professional achievement and their demonstrated interest in improving the law.
Ross is an expert in constitutional law, constitutional theory, election law, administrative law and statutory interpretation.
The release says his research is driven by concern about democratic responsiveness and accountability as well as the inclusion of marginalized communities in administrative and political processes.
Schwartzman, a UVA alumnus, focuses on law and religion, jurisprudence, political philosophy, and constitutional law.
Both men are also directors of the Karsh Center for Law and Democracy.
