CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia Police Department was notified about several items, including a letter, left at the Homer statue around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.

The items left included a "civil peace flag," two masks, a Christian cross, and a sealed envelope with a letter inside, seemingly written to Homer.

The letter did not include any racial or religious language.  However, the note did indicate that the statue glorifies pedophilia. It stated, "If you live in reality you will see an old man with a nude adolescent boy in between his legs."

Some other portions of the letter said that we “are all so blinded by hatred and racial division” and that we “refuse to see the truth that is hidden in plain sight."

At this time, police believe that there is no immediate concern for public safety, but they are looking into if this has any connection to the previous incidents.
