Albemarle County homicide victim identified
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Police Department has released the identity of a person who was killed in a shooting earlier this week.
On Tuesday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on Stony Point Road and found a person who had died of a gunshot wound.
That person has now been identified as 53-year-old Matthew Sean Farrell of Albemarle County.
Officers at the scene also found explosive materials and called in bomb technicians from the Virginia State Police and the FBI to assist.
The explosive materials were cleared and disposed of, and officials say they posed no threat to the public or surrounding properties.
Police have charged 38-year-old Shawna Marie Natalie Murphy of Albemarle County with second-degree murder and use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony in this case.
