ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- At Thursday's Albemarle County School Board meeting, a board member announced they will be resigning.

David Oberg submitted his resignation to the board. He has served on the board for seven years representing White Hall residents.

During his tenure, Oberg has been an advocate for improving the division's market competitiveness and has supported removing educational barriers for students.

He had a year left of his term.

The board will appoint someone to fill the remainder of his term in December.

Board chair Graham Paige invited residents of Oberg’s district who are interested in serving on the board to apply.
