Youngkin visits memorial at Scott Stadium
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A memorial outside of Scott Stadium continues to grow in memory of Lavel Davis, Jr., Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry.
The three University of Virginia football players were killed in the deadly shooting on Grounds on Sunday night.
People continue to leave flowers, notes and other mementos in remembrance of the victims. Some people just come to grieve.
Among those mourning at the memorial on Tuesday was Governor Glenn Youngkin.
"It's just horrific. There's no other way to describe it," he said after laying flowers and saying a prayer for the victims. "And just as a dad, and as a Virginian, we're all broken today, we're all broken."
He added that he couldn’t begin to comprehend the grief and the loss the victims’ families are going through.
"There's nothing that can be said, nothing that can be done, in order to bring them any kind of comfort today," Youngkin said.
He adds that all the community can do is support and pray for them. He came to the memorial to mourn with the UVA and Charlottesville community.
"And recognize as a community that this is a chance to come together and grieve and support them," he said.
