CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- As the University of Virginia and Charlottesville community continue to grieve, an official UVA memorial for the slain students will be held this Saturday.

It will be held at the John Paul Jones Arena, starting at 3:30 p.m., which is the same time that the football game against Coastal Carolina was scheduled to kick off.

Overflow seating will be available at Klockner Stadium and in Old Cabel Hall Auditorium.

All three venues will open for seating at 2 p.m.

The service will also be livestreamed.

In announcing the service in a video last night, UVA President Jim Ryan gave a message to the student body and community:

"I hope you're taking care of yourselves, taking it easy on yourselves, and leaning on each other. You've been through an extraordinarily difficult experience, including the loss of three students and the injuries of two others. But also, a 12-hour ordeal of sheltering in place and the uncertainty that attended each one of those hours," Ryan said.

He added that support services like walk-in counseling will continue to be available. There is also extra support and accommodations for students on the field trip or closely connected with the victims.
