Boar's Head kicks off Winter Wander
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- As the sun went down, the Christmas lights came on. Boar's Head Resort hosted its opening night for Winter Wander after a great turnout last year.
“Nearly 40,000 people attended last year, and we’re expecting over 60,000 through the gates this year,” said Kevin Thurman, Director of Special Events.
There are several new additions this year, like the new heated tent to enjoy food and beverages in, a paved walkway that’s better for strollers and wheelchairs, and some new light features.
“We’ve got 11 scenes of lights, a light tunnel, a welcome tree, and a 250-year-old tree decked out in lights from top to bottom, a 16-foot tall papa boar, and Santa is here for the families so bring your kids. Food and beverage options for guests of all ages and a wonderful market to do a little holiday shopping while you’re here as well,” Thurman added.
Until Dec. 1, Winter Wander is only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. After that, it is open Wednesday to Sunday. By Dec. 14, it will be open every day, except Christmas and it will continue operation until Jan. 7.
Organizers say people should go ahead and get tickets because they do expect it to be popular as it was last year.
