CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Reece Beekman walked off the court in Las Vegas with Most Valuable Player honors and arrived back in Charlottesville with more honors waiting.

The UVA junior guard was named the ACC Player of the Week following a standout showing at the Continental Tire Main Event, helping Virginia to back-to-back wins over ranked opponents for the first time since 2019.

Beekman scored 17 points in the championship game against Illinois, including 13 points in the second half alone, while also holding Illini star Terrence Shannon Jr. to only nine points. In the Cavaliers previous game, Beekman finished with his second career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists against No. 5 Baylor.

This season Beekman is currently second on the team in scoring (11 points per game), first in assists (6 per game), tied for first in steals (1.8 per game), while shooting 50 percent from three.
