ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A campaign in Orange County aims to encourage people to shop local.

The Orange County Office of Economic Development and Tourism will be kicking off its Shop Local Small Business Passport event this weekend.

According to a release, it’s part of the Enjoy Orange Campaign.

The passport event will kick off on Small Business Saturday and run through Dec. 16.

Consumers are encouraged to shop and dine at small businesses throughout Orange County, excluding national chains and franchise locations.

“We want to encourage residents and visitors alike to ‘Enjoy Orange’ buy shopping and dining local this holiday season,” said Rose Deal, the director of Economic Development and Tourism. “Our shops have personal, unique gifts for everyone on your shopping list. While you’re out and about, be sure to experience some of the best fare around at our local restaurants.”

Participants will be able to enter for a chance to win one of four $25 gift cards to an Orange County business of their choice or a variety of other prizes from area businesses.

The winners will be announced on Dec. 19.
