ALBEMARLE and FLUVANNA COUNTIES, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Two Meals on Wheels chapters are asking for help as the holiday season kicks off.

The organizations say there's no such thing as too many volunteers.

The Charlottesville-Albemarle Meals on Wheels delivers lunch to its clients Monday through Friday, including holidays.

Joanne Smith, the volunteer manager, says sometimes the regulars need that time off, and that's why more volunteers are needed during the next few months.

She says getting involved with fellow community members is important.

"Community members helping community members is key, so it's just a beautiful organization. It's a very win-win situation as far as those who want to be able to give, and then they're so so gracious to receive that meal," she said.

The Fluvanna County chapter is specifically asking for drivers for the Fork Union and Columbia area routes. Each shift takes one to two hours.

You can apply to be a volunteer at both chapters online:

If you want to help in another way, both organizations are also taking donations for holiday and emergency bags.
