CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- There is one U.S. Senate race from the 2022 midterm election that is still undecided, but that decision could be reached on Tuesday.

At the University for Virginia Center for Politics, the race between Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker is now rated as “leans democratic.”

That is a change from the “toss-up” rating it had previously held.

The race was sent to a run-off after the Nov. 8 general election because neither candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote.

Sabato’s Crystal Ball says that a handful of polls taken since the general election have shown Warnock holding small leads in most.

Additionally, this will be another expensive race for Georgia.

A release says Democrats have been outspending Republicans since November, though this race is not as expensive as the run in 2021 between then-Senator David Perdue and current Senator Jon Ossoff.

Some 1.9 million people cast early ballots in the runoff, despite a short timeline in which to do so. Early voting ran from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2.

Sabato’s Crystal Ball says even with current information pointing to Warnock winning in the runoff, a Walker win cannot be ruled out.

Democrats currently have a slight lead in the U.S. Senate, holding 50 seats to 49 controlled by Republicans. The results of this election could give Democrats more power over the Senate or result in a tie.

However, Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, would cast any deciding votes if there were to be a tie in that chamber.
