STANARDSVILLE Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Greene County Technical Educational Center received accreditation for its HVAC program.

The accreditation comes from HVAC Excellence, a national service that ensures that the program meets national standards.

What this means is that students in Greene County who go through the HVAC program and receive their certificate will be certified not only in Virginia but all over the nation.

"I think it says that we are providing our students with opportunities that are going to impact them in their lives beyond high school and in meaningful ways," said Jess Peregoy, of the Greene County Technical Educational Center. "This isn't just a course; it's not just an elective. This is something that you're training for your future. And we want to make sure that we're providing them with opportunities so that their future is going to have something solid."

Peregoy also says that GCTEC wouldn't have been able to do this without the support of its community.
