FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to identify a suspect in an armed robbery.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. Friday at the BP gas station on the 13600 block of James Madison Highway in Palmyra.

Deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress, but the suspect ran away before they arrived.

The suspect is described as a black man with a medium build, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11. He is in his mid-to-late 40s.

At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a black “gator-style mask,” a black beanie cap, hot pink gloves, dark-colored pants, black shoes, and a black jacket with white sleeves.

He ran away from the gas station, heading north on James Madison Highway.

The weapon used in the incident, a purple Taurus G2 9mm handgun, was dropped at the scene and recovered by deputies.
