ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Work to replace an Albemarle County bridge has been completed ahead of schedule.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says crews finished the project on Burchs Creek Road on Wednesday.

The steel beam timber deck bridge over Stockton Creek has been replaced with a new concrete superstructure.

Crews also repaired and modified the bridge abutments.

The new bridge is open to all legal loads.

The work was originally scheduled to be completed by this Friday.
