CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia 30 Day Fund is a nonprofit focused on giving back to small businesses.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Charlottesville-based nonprofit has raised millions of dollars to give back to small businesses, and now, its holiday push is underway.

Starting Wednesday, its “12 Days for Christmas” campaign is focused on finding 25 businesses across the Commonwealth to receive part of the $3,500 that is available.

Pete Snyder, the co-founder of the nonprofit, says its goal is to give back before the holiday.

"Unfortunately, when we started, we thought this was going to be 30 days, just to get people started. Now it's been three years," he said. "And between COVID and the after-effects of COVID, inflation, labor shortages, folks are still really hurting. So, we have distributed $8 million just this year alone. So, we want to end the year with a bang, and brighten some people's holidays and I can't wait to do so.”

The 30 Day Fund has helped save 12 businesses on the Downtown Mall, 50 businesses in Charlottesville, and more than 1,000 businesses across Virginia.
