CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia Children's Hospital hosted its annual "Seasons Treatings" event on Thursday. It's an opportunity for parents to go Christmas shopping on the pediatric level.

Brady’s Toy Drive donated toys, and now families and volunteers are able to go shopping for Christmas for their sick children without ever leaving the hospital.

With Christmas less than two weeks away, it was very appreciated.

“It has just lifted a huge weight for us. Knowing that we have this, this was a complete surprise to me as well. I did not find out about this until yesterday. It’s huge, it huge. I started crying this morning when I found out that we were coming and doing this,” said Alyssa Riedl, the mother of a patient.

Riedl’s son was awarded as the 2023 National Champion with Children’s Miracle Network. He has been in the care of UVA for a while. As of right now, there is no timeline for when he will be released.

The Riedls are hoping for a Christmas miracle, but if that can’t happen, his room is decorated with Christmas décor.
