CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Another boost for the Virginia defensive line after Kam Butler announced he will return to UVA for his sixth season of college football.

Butler made his announcement via Instagram, a week after the NCAA granted UVA players who had exhausted their eligibility an extra season.

The defensive end is coming off his first season with the Cavaliers, where he started all ten games finishing with 29 tackles, 3.0 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Butler previously played at Miami (Ohio) where he was a three-time All-MAC selection.

Butler's decision follows defensive tackle Jahmeer Carter announcing he would return for another season, building depth along the defensive line for Virginia.

Ronnie Walker Jr. Enters Transfer Portal

The latest name from UVA to hit the transfer portal is senior running back Ronnie Walker Jr., as first reported by Wahoos247.

Walker Jr. missed the majority of this past season with an injury suffered in spring ball, but came on to play in three of Virginia's last four games. The Hopewell native saw his most action against North Carolina, rushing for 30 yards and a touchdown.

This will be the second go-round through the transfer process for Walker, who previously transferred to UVA after spending two seasons at Indiana. In his five years of college football, Walker has played in only 40 games rushing for 359 yards and five touchdowns.
