CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- After Saturday's disappointing loss the 'Hoos bounced back by landing Georgetown transfer Dante Harris. The 6 foot junior guard announced his commitment Sunday afternoon after spending just under two weeks in the transfer portal.

Harris will redshirt this season and have three years of eligibility remaining at Virginia.

During his 2021-2022 season with the Hoyas, Harris averaged 11.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He shot 37.5% from the field and 27.5% from outside the arc. He also posted a team-high 118 assists and ranked second on the team with 44 steals. In 2021 Harris was named the Big East Tournament MVP.

Upon his commit Harris told On3.com's Joe Tipton, “I mean, who wouldn’t want to play for Virginia? It’s one of the best programs in the country,” Harris said. “They have guys get drafted almost every year, a place I eventually want to get to. Coach Tony Bennett is a great coach and one of the best in the business. He says he runs his program through God’s word, which is very big for me. I’m huge on the scripture and to have a coach that runs his program through the Lord. What else can you ask for?”
