NELSON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) --Nelson 151 is the destination for award-winning breweries, cideries, wineries, and distilleries.

This holiday season, those locations are giving back to the community that supports them the most.

Each year, Nelson 151 members come together during the holiday season to raise funds for local charitable and civic organizations.

Their 12 Days of Giving fundraiser has raised over thirty thousand dollars for non-profits benefiting the Nelson County community.

“We’ve been blessed with so much good will and business throughout the year, so it’s our time to show our support for our broader community,” said Nelson 151 President Lindsay Dorrier.

This year’s donation recipients, Rockfish Valley Volunteer Fire & Rescue are one of the backbones of keeping Nelson County safe.

“They provide vital services to our community, they are here in good times and our worst,” added Dorrier.

As well as the Central Virginia Farm Works initiative, who keep cideries, like Bold Rock, afloat.

“They actually provide vital services to migrant workers who come and really are the reason we can harvest the fruit that goes into our beverages,” said Dorrier.

During the 12 days of giving, locations on their days of giving will give a portion of the day’s sales to these organizations.

In the past few years, Nelson 151 has donated over $30,000 to participating non-profits.

“We couldn’t be as successful as we have been so we feel really obligated to give back during this time of year,” added Dorrier.

Participating locations include Devil’s Backbone, Veritas Winery, Bold Rick Cidery, among more famous Nelson County breweries.
