CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from Maryland has been arrested for a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Charlottesville.

According to the Charlottesville Police Department, Jose Omar Rivas Sorto was arrested at the scene and charged with felony shooting from a vehicle.

The victim, identified as Osvaldo Lopez-Hernandez of Texas, suffered at least one gunshot injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This occurred around 1:40 p.m. Sunday on the 400 block of Monticello Road.

Another unidentified male who was with Lopez-Hernandez was also shot and is still receiving medical care at the University of Virginia Health System.

Police say warrants for the arrest of this person have been obtained for charges of felony abduction for a pecuniary benefit, use of a firearm during an abduction, and misdemeanor brandishing of a firearm.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, but police say there is no active threat at this time.
