CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A month out from the start of the college baseball season and D1Baseball dropped their preseason poll on Tuesday featuring Virginia.

The Cavaliers are ranked No. 19 to start the 2023 season after beginning last season outside the top-25.

Seven ACC teams find themselves ranked to open the year, the second most among conference behind only the SEC with nine. No. 6 Wake Forest leads the conference followed by No. 12 North Carolina, No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Louisville, No. 21 NC State and No. 22 Miami.

Virginia returns six starting position players from last year's team led by All-American Jake Gelof. The Cavaliers are coming off making back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and finished with their first winning record in ACC play since 2017.

UVA opens the 20th season under Brian O'Connor on Feb. 17 in Wilmington, N.C. for the Hughes Bros. Challenge with games against Navy, UNCW and Ohio scheduled for the weekend.
