CULPEPER, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Some roads in the region have now been pretreated ahead of expected wintry precipitation on Wednesday morning.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says crews have pretreated Interstate 64 west of Charlottesville and Interstate 66.

Forecasts are calling for snow in the western and northern parts of the VDOT Culpeper District, and the National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for the Shenandoah Valley and higher elevations along the Blue Ridge.

Snow is possible at higher elevations, and other areas may see flurries and rain as well as ice.

However, warmer temperatures are expected to improve road conditions by 12 p.m. Wednesday.
