CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A virtual forum will be taking place Thursday regarding the ongoing review of the names of two Charlottesville schools.

The Charlottesville City Schools’ Naming of Facilities Committee wants to hear from the community as part of the process to review the names of Burnley-Moran and Johnson elementary schools.

The forum will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. To register for it, click here.

An online survey was launched earlier this month for people to provide feedback and suggest alternate names.

If the committee does consider renaming the schools, it plans to avoid names honoring individuals and geographic places with associations that do not reflect CCS’s values. The committee will consider suggestions based on purpose or place.

According to a release, the committee may make a recommendation to the Charlottesville School Board as soon as Feb. 2, though a vote will likely not take place until March.

Information about the process to review the school names and about the current namesakes can be found online here.
