GREENE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia State Police is investigating a crash in Greene County in which a pedestrian was killed.

According to police, the crash occurred around 7:05 a.m. Feb. 9 on Spotswood Trail just east of the intersection with Maple Creek Road in Stanardsville.

Police say a 2022 Subaru Impreza was heading east on Spotswood Trail when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a man who was walking alongside the eastbound lanes of the road.

The pedestrian, identified as 72-year-old Albert J. Scott of Stanardsville, died at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as 26-year-old Dylan W. Collier of Stanardsville, was not hurt.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing and charges are pending.
