Piedmont Master Gardeners accepting donations for Green Elephant sale
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Piedmont Master Gardeners is accepting what it calls "Green Elephant" donations, which is how the organization gets most of its financial support.
It accepts anything from used rakes, shovels, books, and even outdoor furniture and garden decorations. However, it cannot take plastic pots and open chemical bags.
Donations will be accepted starting Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays until April 25.
"It's really important to us because this is our principal source of funding," said Bill Sublette, a Piedmont Master Gardeners volunteer. "Our plant sale and what we call our 'green elephant' sale, which goes on the same day. So everything we do really depends on the funding we get in that one big day. We sell some plants and garden equipment to the community."
The sale will take place on May 6.
People can drop off donations at the Albemarle Square Shopping Center location. To arrange a pickup, send an email to [email protected].
