CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- There have been three homicides in the city of Charlottesville so far this year.

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired report around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

When officers arrived on the 900 block of Page Street, they found 20-year-old Nicklous Pendleton of Gordonsville suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined the shooting had occurred on the 800 block of Hardy Drive.

Pendleton was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The other two homicides that have occurred in 2023 were in the Belmont neighborhood on Jan. 8, involving people who were not from this area, and on Grove Street on Jan. 28.

Two people are facing charges in connection with the Belmont neighborhood incident and one has been arrested for the Grove Street one.
