CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (CBS19 News) -- 99.7 CYK is hosting their annual 99.7 CYK Country Cares for Kids Radiothon benefitting St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Money raised at the event goes to benefit families of children suffering from childhood cancer.

As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, the community had raised more than $21,000. Partners in Hope, or donors to St. Jude's, are aiming to beat last year’s amount of just over $64,000.

99.7 CYK morning host Tom Morgan says that the goal is to make sure that 100 percent of children at St. Jude will be cancer-free.

"We've been doing this for years, and it has become a tradition for CYK listeners and us as well, and we will not stop until we have a 100% success rate against childhood cancer," he said.

Tom Morgan is the host Morgan in the Morning on 99.7, and the radiothon will continue Thursday from 5 a.m. to 7pm. If you are looking to become a Partner in Hope by making a donation, you can do so by dialing 1-800-942-7359.
